Takoma

Takoma is a neighborhood in NW DC, not to be confused with Takoma Park, Md., that is roughly bordered by Eastern Avenue on the northeast side, Georgia Avenue to the west, and Van Buran Street on the south. Long known as an eclectic haven for vegans and hippie types, Takoma is known for it’s free recreation center. Takoma real estate consists primarily of detached Bungalows and Victorians, and a few condos located near the Takoma metro station. Prices have historically been below average for DC, and even with the neighborhood seeing a recent development boom and many new restaurants, that trend has continued. Housing prices vary widely between $300,000 and $800,000, depending on size, style and level of renovation.
